Color Trend For 2016

The color trend for this year is interesting because it is actually no color at all.  That’s right just  white!  You can use it for your accent pieces to decorate a room or paint your walls with it.

SimplyWhiteDollopLike this color from Benjamin Moore’s called Simply White.  I like white for many reasons.  It’s not just clean and simple looking.   It brightens the room and opens it up to makes it appear larger.  I would recommend getting a high quality paint that you are able to wipe down.  I love the quality you get with Benjamin Moore’s paint!  I would not recommend a flat paint if you are looking for something you could  wipe down.  I would go with a  eggshell or satin.  They both have a little sheen in them and makes it easier to wipe down.

I’m also obsessed with new looks this season  in furniture from West Elm and Restoration Hardware.  Thank you to my sweet neighbor and friend for letting me show her beautiful home and furniture from my favorite stores.   I think these pictures show  how clean and beautiful white can look!IMG_6301

In the picture above is her beautiful white kitchen with white marble counter tops and white accent pieces.

In this picture it’s showing her dinning area with white washed furniture from Restoration Hardware.  I love it!

Although white might not be for everybody it sure looks beautiful to me! So if your thinking of painting or redecorating a room white might be your color.  Whether you use it on your walls,  furniture or accent pieces……  Just have fun with it!

Follow Your Heart

I  actually can’t believe I am sitting here blogging.  I always loved being a mom and taking care of my family  but was looking for a creative outlet to fulfill my hearts desires.  I started my own business a few weeks ago which allows me help others design and decorate their own spaces or stage their home to sell.  Its called  Belgian Way Staging and Design( I have been stretched and am learning a lot.  I am writing about this to encourage anyone who wants to do something they love but are not sure if they would be able to and are scared or nervous.  I was all of that, it took me years to get the courage to do this believe me I didn’t do this overnight.  I had a lot of encouragement from my husband, family and friends.   We  always encourage our kids to work hard and that the possibilities are endless.  I believe we as adults need to take our own advice.  We may fall but get back up and learn from it and keep going.  I do not know what God has planned for me but I take one step at a time with Him and know that I’m right where I am supposed to be.

I hope this was an encouragement to you to follow what you loved to do and do it with passion!  You never know whose lives you are touching!

# Foolproof tips to plant succulents!

Spring has sprung and hopefully the weather in the northeast is going to take a turn and get sunny.  This had me thinking about something I believe is becoming more popular over the years.  Succulents!  I love them!  They are super easy to care for.  So if you do not have a green thumb your should still be able to have these in your planters this year.  I have 2 tricks to keeping your succulents alive!

Tips #1

Loose, fast-draining soil!

This soil works well from Home Depot or you could most likely get it where they sell Miracle grow potting soils.  Call to check before you make the trip though.

Tip #2

Don’t hardly water them!  I mean that just when you think you should water them wait a few days or even a week and then water them.  They do not need to be watered often.

The only thing left to show you is these fun planters you can use to plant them in!
